I am honored to endorse the U.S. Standards of Excellence in Short-Term Mission. The SOE is an extremely well designed pathway to guide those sending short-term teams toward excellence, whether working locally or far from home. The SOE provides member organizations a roadmap to move beyond ‘drive by missions’ to a quality program with appropriate preparation, thorough follow-up and integrity.

I am very impressed with the U.S. Standards of Excellence in Short-Term Mission. I am especially grateful for its focus on “intended receptors”. The desire to insure that short-term ministry benefits indigenous long term work is critical. I encourage anyone engaged in short-term mission outreach to adopt and join the Standards of Excellence.

Effective short-term volunteer service should contribute to the long-term transformation of the individuals and communities served. At the same time, it should set a level of excellence and life changing vision for those serving. SOE is to be commended for helping ensure these outcomes
